Designing the Safa Halal Food Truck was an exciting opportunity to transform a simple vehicle into a bold, eye-catching showcase for the business. The goal was to create a design that not only stands out but also captures the client’s vision for a vibrant and dynamic look.
Client’s Vision
Peacocks and Paisleys
Shah, the client, shared his vision for the truck’s design: a “crazy, busy, peacock paisley pattern” inspired by Indian art. The concept was clear, but the reference image he provided didn’t quite match the professional look. This presented a unique challenge: taking his inspiration and refining it into something polished and visually appealing.
Process
Finding Inspiration
To move beyond the limitations of the initial design idea, I created a mood board featuring vibrant colors, Indian mosaic tiles, and peacock artwork. These references provided a clearer direction for the design, focusing on how bold elements could work together harmoniously.
Movement and Color
Drawing from this inspiration, I custom-created paisley patterns with flowing shapes and patterns to evoke a sense of rhythm and energy. The bold palette of deep blues, reds, and gold added vibrancy and ensured the truck would stand out in any setting.
Details That Matter
Indian art is known for its intricate details and vibrant colors, and I worked to honor that in the design. The paisley shapes were filled with delicate floral and geometric details. These elements were woven throughout to give the trailer a rich feel.
Challenges
Tackling Revisions
Throughout the revision process, Shah continued to push for even more detail, wanting the design to be “busier.” It was a balancing act to honor his vision while ensuring the final result remained visually appealing and functional. By thoughtfully refining the details and balancing the intricate patterns, I created a design that captures the energy Shah wanted while maintaining a cohesive look.
